Swim Kickoff Meeting - Recap
Hi Woodhaven Warriors Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us in the less than ideal weather for the Swim & Dive Team Kickoff Meeting! We loved seeing so many new and returning families and are so excited for an amazing Summer 2026 season.
During the meeting, we reviewed the team handbook and covered some important information to help everyone feel prepared for the season ahead. Attached is a copy of the handbook, as well as a printable schedule for June and July. Apologies that the schedule didn't make it into the handouts. Here’s a quick summary of the evenings highlights:
• Swimmers are grouped by age, with a focus on skill development, confidence, teamwork, and FUN.
• Dive practices are one hour long and divers must be able to swim independently in the dive well.
- Home meets: 5:15 PM
- Away meets: 5:30 PM
- Meets begin at 6:15 PM
- Meet RSVP is open, please declare your swimmers yes/no for the meets in swimtopia. RSVP closes the Sunday before that week's meet.
- Families should bring team gear, towels, chairs, snacks, water, sunscreen / bug spray, bake sale items and Sharpies to meets.
- New this year - SPIRIT SQUAD and themed home meets. More info to come, but we are planning Woodhaven swag, merch, and more!
We reviewed swimmer and parent expectations, including sportsmanship, positivity, respectful communication, and supporting all athletes.
Volunteer requirements were discussed:
- Standard families: 3 volunteer shifts.
- 6 & Under only families: 1 volunteer shift.
• Volunteer roles include timers, lane parents, ribbons, grill/bake sale, judging, hospitality, and more. We also discussed doing half shifts during the meets to ease the burden. Volunteer spots will open 6/5/26 at noon, so everyone has a fair chance of volunteering for the positions they desire.
• Weather updates and announcements will be shared through SwimTopia and our Facebook/Instagram pages.
We are in desperate need of families willling to be stroke and turn judges this year, it requires watching the following videos (about 20 mins total), and then taking a short quiz. - Athletes can wear any suits for practices, team gear is strongly encouraged for meets.
Registration
If you have not yet paid your swim and dive team fees, please head to the main woodhavencenterville.com website and sign in. You'll then need to go to membership drop down, followed by manage account. Then you'll use the payment drop down followed by make a payment. Here you can add your swim and dive fees as appropriate. Please let me know if you are still having issues making a payment.
Most importantly, we emphasized that Woodhaven is a team where every swimmer belongs — whether they are learning to swim across the pool for the first time or racing all four strokes.
Thank you again for being part of the Warriors family. We can’t wait to kick off the season and make this summer the best one yet!
GO WARRIORS!
