Athlete Code of Conduct (Swimmers)
1. Respect
- Treat coaches, teammates, officials, and competitors with kindness and respect.
- Listen when coaches are speaking and follow instructions.
- Use appropriate language at all times.
2. Effort & Attitude
- Always try your best in practices and meets.
- Be positive and encourage your teammates.
- Be willing to learn and improve.
3. Teamwork
- Support your teammates, regardless of skill level.
- Celebrate others’ successes and show good sportsmanship.
- Include everyone and avoid cliques or exclusion.
4. Responsibility
- Arrive on time and prepared for practices and meets.
- Take care of personal belongings and team equipment.
- Follow pool rules and safety guidelines at all times.
5. Behavior
- No bullying, teasing, or disruptive behavior.
- Stay in designated areas during practices and meets.
- Follow directions from coaches and team staff promptly.
Parent Code of Conduct
1. Support & Encouragement
- Encourage your child and all swimmers in a positive manner.
- Focus on effort, improvement, and fun rather than just winning.
- Help your child develop independence and responsibility.
2. Respect for Coaches & Officials
- Trust the coaches to make decisions about training and competition.
- Do not coach from the sidelines during practices or meets.
- Treat officials, volunteers, and staff with respect.
3. Sportsmanship
- Model good behavior and positive attitudes at all events.
- Applaud good performances by all swimmers and teams.
- Avoid negative comments about swimmers, coaches, or officials.
4. Communication
- Address concerns respectfully and at appropriate times (not during practice or immediately after races).
- Follow team communication channels and guidelines.
- Keep coaches informed of absences or issues affecting your child.
5. Safety & Logistics
- Ensure your child arrives on time and is picked up promptly.
- Follow all facility rules and safety procedures.
- Help maintain a safe and organized environment during events.
Shared Expectations (Parents & Athletes)
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe team culture.
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and respect at all times.
- Follow all team, league, and facility rules.
- Understand that violations of this code may result in consequences, including warnings or removal from activities if necessary.
Acknowledgment
By participating in the summer swim program, both athletes and parents agree to follow this code of conduct and contribute to a positive team experience for everyone.
